nothing beats the colour and texture of film!

Authentic, real life photography with all that nostalgic, grainy 35mm film goodness.

preserve memories in a truly authentic manner

Film photography, my true love, is a medium that holds a special place in my heart. In my approach to photography, I strive for one thing above all else: authenticity. Film, with its unique characteristics, allows me to achieve this in a way that digital simply can't replicate.

Darryl Kerrigan’s lawyer said it best: “It's the vibe”. It’s nothing short of magic, a genuine reflection of your beautiful life. No matter how hard I work to make my digital shots mimic film, the colour, tone, and texture remain unsurpassable. It brings a feeling of nostalgia because it truthfully is the medium of memory.

 FAQs

  • During a film shoot, our approach is to capture authentic and natural moments. I'll provide guidance and direction as needed, although some sessions may flow seamlessly without constant direction. The goal is to create genuine, unposed images that reflect your unique story.

  • Film and digital photography each bring their unique charm to the art of capturing moments. While digital offers flexibility and a multitude of shots to choose from, it's especially handy for those energetic toddler shoots. It ensures you won't miss a thing while they're on the move.

On the other hand, film photography is a more joyous and nostalgic experience. It brings an authentic, grainy, and retro touch to your images, adding a layer of emotion and surprise that is hard to replicate with digital. The slightly unpredictable nature of film often leads to the most heartwarming, authentic shots. So, it really depends on your style and the mood you're looking to create in your photos – both are wonderful in their own right.

  • After the session, I'll securely package your rolls of film and send them to a professional film lab. There, your film will be expertly developed and then scanned into high-resolution digital format.

  • Once the film lab has scanned your images, they will send the digital scans to me. I will then use my editing software to perform any necessary color corrections and enhancements. Subsequently, I'll upload the high-resolution digital scans to a private online gallery.

  • You will receive a link to your private online gallery, where you can conveniently view, download, and enjoy your high-resolution digital scans. This gallery makes it easy to share your treasured moments with friends and family.

  • A single roll of 35mm film typically holds 24-36 shots. While I quote 15-30 photographs, it's important to understand that sometimes I might take a shot more than once or some shots may not meet our artistic expectations. Depending on the session's focus or the number of shots you desire, you may find that more than one roll is needed. The flexibility of multiple rolls often results in richer and more diverse galleries. However, I do offer a single roll as a starting point for those seeking an affordable entry into the enchanting world of film photography.

  • Absolutely! You have the option to add a roll of film to your digital session, it’s the perfect addition to any shoot.

  • Unfortunately, yes. Film shortages are impacting the industry, and in recent times, the prices of some film rolls have nearly doubled.

  • Photo prints are not included in the pricing, but don't worry! You can explore a lovely store connected to your gallery, where you can easily order and print your favourite photos.

  • As mentioned earlier, the physical negatives remain in my possession as part of the film photography process. You receive the beautiful digital scans for your enjoyment and printing needs.

  • Film photography naturally has a stunning grainy texture to it which becomes more noticeable the larger you print your photos. For nice crisp prints, I’d recommend no larger than A3.

  • “Oh Lou!! 😭 They are just absolutely amazing! Goosebump moment opening up the gallery. I'm in awe of your talent to capture so much on film. Incredible. I can't even pick a favourite - I love them all!

  • “It's special, it's tangible, it's extremely meaningful. The meaning is magnified by the rarity and rawness of the exposed image. We were made to feel so comfortable in front of the camera therefore the moments captured were so natural, real and true."
